Ormiston Mining and Smelting Part 2
One of many hazards at this facility - a bottle of Hydrochloric Acid left in the lab area
Machinery in the in processing plant
Some more of the processing equipment
A shot of the majority of the plant
Looking from the other direction - some machinery was removed when the plant was closed
This is up near the roof in the input side of the plant. The other end was taller, but the steps were pretty sketchy so I never made it up there.
Lathe in the shop area
This is above the shop area. There was a set of stairs that I didn't trust so above here is the only area we never explored.
The updates electrical room. This equipment was installed only a year or two before the plant closed.
The dredge on a cold rainy day
The plant
The dredge. This was used to break up the sodium sulfate on the bottom of the lake and then it was pumped to the plant.
The front of the dredge - used to break up the base of the lake.
Business end of the dredge with plant in the background.
The CAT diesel engine - i bet you could get this engine running again fairly easily,
I believe this house belonged to the owner as it was the biggest and furthest away from the plant.
