I spent my spring (2005) travelling around the province for work. It was an awsome opportunity to see new areas of the province and to take many photos along my way. The North and South Saskatchewan Rivers have always been a large obstacle to cross for transportation in Saskatchewan. On many crossings of these rivers I would see an old abandoned bridge off to the side just begging to be explored. Only one that I found was not accessible. So enjoy the Former North Battleford Bridge, the former Borden Bridge, and the former Outlook Bridge.

Looking down the former Hwy 16 towards the closed portion of the bridge. It is still accessible to pedestrians.
Wow, that must have been an ugly crossing in it's time. Hwy 16 is also known as the northern Trans Canada Highway and has a lot of traffic. I don't think there would be a lot of room to pass on coming traffic.

The warning sign posted a mile back from the bridge, most maps show this bridge as still open so I assume it was closed recently.
The former Battleford bridge consists of two sections as it used an island to shorten the length of the bridges. You can still drive accross the one to access the island.

Time is taking it's toll on this bridge.
